Welcome to Old Market Café

General Info

Right in the heart of Bristol, Old Market Café feels like the kind of place you stumble upon once and then keep coming back to. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, exactly what you’d expect from a neighborhood café that focuses on simple food done well. From the moment you walk in, the setting feels comfortable and casual-perfect whether you’re planning a slow breakfast, a quick bite during the day, or a relaxed sit-down meal with friends.

One of the first things that stands out when browsing the menu is the classic café comfort food. The Full English Breakfast Set 2 is a highlight and easily one of the most satisfying plates here. It’s hearty, filling, and exactly what you want when starting the morning. The portion feels generous without being overwhelming, and the balance of flavors gives that familiar, comforting breakfast experience many diners look for when visiting a traditional British café.

Coffee lovers will appreciate the Flat White, which pairs naturally with the breakfast menu. Smooth and well-balanced, it’s the kind of drink that works equally well as a morning starter or a mid-day pick-me-up. Alongside the coffee, the café also offers a great tea selection, giving visitors plenty of choices depending on their mood. It’s nice to see a place that treats both coffee and tea with equal care.

For something simple yet satisfying, the Chips & Beans is another standout option. It’s a classic comfort dish that fits perfectly within the relaxed café vibe. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or just looking for something warm and familiar, this dish delivers exactly that.

The overall service style at Old Market Café keeps things straightforward and convenient. Guests can enjoy dine-in seating, making it a comfortable spot to sit and chat over food and drinks. The café is also family-friendly, with a kids’ menu available, which makes it a practical choice for parents visiting with children. Little details, like having a restroom available for guests, also make the experience more comfortable for longer visits.

What really makes the café stand out, though, is how approachable everything feels-from the menu to the service. It’s the kind of place where locals drop in regularly and visitors quickly feel at ease. When you look through reviews and hear people talk about the location, the same themes keep coming up: simple food, friendly service, and a laid-back café environment that makes you want to stay just a little longer.

What customers say?

“ A very good spot for breakfast. They offer a wide variety of items including breakfast sandwiches built on delicious slices of bread that are almost an inch thick, a traditional English breakfast, and omelettes. Coffee options are also broad, and the prices are quite reasonable. ”

- Jeff Phillips -

“ Lovely service. Stopped for a nice cup of tea. It was lovely and clean and quiet. Could relax for a moment. ”

- Adrian Kucharski -

“ Ok so maybe not the biggest breakfast for the price i paid but what it lacks in quantity it certainly makes up for in quality. Excellent quality ingredients and freshly cooked (none of your cheap nasty preheated supermarket rubbish here). Also had a good old basic white coffee but yet again great quality. Staff are really friendly and the cafe in general is spotlessly clean (not easy when you consider it's cafe)!!!. Overall a really nice place to sit and enjoy great clean food and a cuppa. Thoroughly recommend 10/10. ”

“ Past this cafe many times over the years decided to give it a try wasn't disappointed my son had the small breakfast with a hot chocolate I had the large breakfast it was very nice will definitely come here again.. ”

- Clifton Hodge -

“ What a find! Clean, friendly and efficient. My sons ordered a cheese and bacon toasted sandwich (delicious) and a tuna mayo sandwich, which had a very generous filling. I ordered double egg and chips. The chips were delicious and because one yolk was broken, they gave me a third egg. Nice. Oh and tea in a proper cup. ”

- Jenny Bhambri-Lyte -

“ Proper cafe & a great fry up. Much cheaper and tastier than the hotel. Food came it quick and piping hot…. Proper “greasy spoon” without the grease and a choice of tomato (tinned is always better) and a generous portion ”

“ I eat or have a coffee there regularly, the Staff are wonderful as is the service and the food - very generous portions and always willing to produce something new, like my request for a toasted bacon, egg, cheese and banana sandwich. Most customers I've met there are also very friendly and willing to chat. ”

- Leigh Bostock -

“ Great cafe in the Old market cafe. We had two English breakfasts and tea. Very good and filling. Great start to our day. I would have gone back on the Monday but they were closed due to Bank holiday.Highly recommend for honest tasty food. ”
